MONUMENTS
The village of Bandora has many beautiful monuments built in the ancient, medieval and modern period. They also belong to different religious nomenclatures, like the Jain, Hindus, Muslims, Christians, etc. Among the ancient monuments the Jain Basti stands out, highlighting the spread of Jainism in Goa. They introduced vegetarianism in Goa. The Jain Basti crumbling structure at Nageshi is the last trace of their existence in Goa. However due to the neglect of the authorities, it is half destroyed and half partially hidden in the foliage . In the early medieval period the Safa Majid is the most prominent monument which too became the victim of the fanatical religious fervor of the Jewsuites during the Inquisition. Today only a small part of its grand structure is seen standing.
